Use of the top light and other portable lighting. Understanding colour temperature.
Practical use of the tripod. Framing and composition. Creative shooting. Interview techniques, vox pops, macro work, covering a press conference and hand held operation.
How the news industry works, covering a story in real terms and a practical location shoot.
Introduction to editing, using the Avid Express system.
Connecting the camera, digitising footage, working with the timeline, general editing techniques, exporting the finished project back on to tape or other media.
Uploading to 4BN, transmission of material.
Capturing footage, basic editing in the timeline, trimming, subclipping and storyboarding, segment editing, exporting to tape and other media.
General editing techniques, tips, and tricks.
Digital transfer of the final edit, storage systems, accessing media.

This is essentially a radio conversion course which provides print journalists with a solid introduction to radio journalism. The course covers both editorial and technical aspects over five days.
