BRIEFING

Apply now for UK's best foundation course

A limited number of places are available for people wishing to fund their own way through PA's Foundation Course in Journalism.

The selection process for new recruits to the course is about to get underway with interviews being held in June and July.

This route is one of the best ways of gaining a job in journalism with no one who has successfully completed the course failing to be offered a job in the past 10 years.

The course is widely recognised as the leading foundation course in the UK offering delegates a unique opportunity to train in a busy newspaper office.

Tony Johnston, head of Press Association Training said: "Many people who have funded their own way through the course are now in senior jobs across the media.

"This is a great way of securing that elusive first job as well as receiving industry-leading training"

The next course starts on August 29 and ends on December 15.

Fees for the course are £4,695 including VAT. Anyone interested in applying for the course should contact Sheilagh Banks, the course administrator, for an application form.

" I found the course intense and testing but extremely rewarding and worthwhile. You don't stop from day one until the exams at the end. The pressure and pace of the course are an ideal preparation for what life will be like in a real newsroom."
